Metlifecare
Often in organisations, employees receive many messages in a variety of different places to take on board, whether it is the company values, health and safety requirements or key information on the company or the job. Especially when you are new to a job, it can be overwhelming to retain all of the knowledge.
Metlifecare was looking for a way to engage new hires with key job and company information before their first day through to the first few months of their job and give employees something they could refer back to throughout their career with Metlifecare.
We partnered with the Metlifecare People and Culture team and concluded there would be two parts to finding the best solution for their employees.
Discovery through insights directly from their employees
The outcome of the insights to produce that ‘thing’
We produced an insightful employee recruitment and onboarding report and a 20+ page employee handbook with useful information and a notebook at the back. To start with we organised and facilitated a focus group at a Metlifecare village with staff from various roles talking about their Metlifecare journey. We wanted to understand each employee’s journey, how they applied for a job, how they learned about the requirements of their role and what would enhance their training and development.
We then produced a report of the focus group which highlighted key insights. Based on the findings, we created an employee handbook for Metlifecare. A small, bound, interactive handbook for employees to take around, write in and fill out sections during their onboarding, and most importantly refer back to key information as and when needed. Recognising the workforce’s mobile-first digital habits, each section contained one or more QR codes to link to expanded content.
